The Law of Attraction: Taking a Step Backward to Move Forward
The law of attraction states that you will attract into your life what you project out into the world via your thoughts, your feelings and your actions. The sum of all 3 is what determines what you bring into your life.
The law of attraction and the power of thought are hot topics these days. With Oprah doing not one but two shows on the movie, The Secret, these topics are as mainstream as they can get right now.
Unfortunately, many are only learning what I call the
If you are not getting the results you want in life, then you most likely are out of step in one of these 3 areas. Your thoughts, your feelings, your actions or a combination of the three are not in alignment with what you want. And sometimes, in order to get back in harmony, you need to take a step backward to move forward again.
An Example.
About 3 years ago, my wife had our first child. Up until this point, neither my wife nor I had any life insurance. We didn’t need any. But now, if I died, Stephanie would be left to raise our child without my income to support them. This was not a pleasant scenario and according to the
Life is pretty busy with a new baby, so it was fairly easy to turn my thoughts away from my untimely demise and toward something else. But those feelings of worry remained. And because emotions are as important as thoughts when it comes to the real law of attraction, I eventually realized this was not an acceptable situation. I came to the conclusion that I needed to take a step backward.
So I focused my thoughts fully on what I didn’t want – dying young and leaving my family in dire straits. Dale Carnegie in his book How to Stop Worrying and Start Living calls this the worst case scenario. By visualizing the worst case scenario and accepting it fully, the doubt, worry, and fears that often cloud ones ability to think and act are lifted. Once you can think clearly, it is fairly easy to think of ways you can improve on the worst-case results.
In this example, once I fully faced the possibility of my dying young, it was fairly easy to decide to get a medical check up and to buy adequate life insurance. And because now my thinking wasn’t clouded by doubt and worry, I realized that seeing the doctor and buying life insurance were actually in harmony with what I wanted in life. I wanted to be a good provider for my family, and these actions were in-sync with that desire, not opposed to it as the
I also realized that by taking a step backward and focusing fully on the problem in the short term, I was able to find a proper solution. And with solution in hand, I was able to direct my thoughts, emotions, and actions toward the life of my dreams in a way I wasn’t capable of before.

What the word ‘Want’ and Law of Attraction have in common
The mere fact that the law of attraction constitutes the need or want for something shows how important the word, “want†is to your success. However, some people don’t like to use the word “want†because it may make them seem too vulnerable.
The law of attraction without the word, “want†will not work. There must be a need for something. In other words, attraction by itself is ineffective.
It may be that some people envision “want†as not having something or being without or lacking something. Words are important because each of us view the motive of certain words differently.
For example, the word “job†may be exciting for some people who love their career and yet it might cause some people to think negative thoughts of possibly slavery if you mention the word, “job†to them. Working for someone will emanate strong feelings of rejection. Words can appear negative to one person and positive to the next.
Here are a few situations below. Read them and consider if you are sending out negative vibes or positive ones.
Take notice that the words are exactly the same.
Situation # 1 – You see something that you long for. However, you begin to think that you will never have it. In the same instance, you speak out aloud and in a very doubtful voice, “I really want this.†The question now is, what vibration are you sending out?
Situation # 2 – You yearn for something specific and you finally see what you want. With excitement, you decide and make it known loudly that you want one. What vibrations are you sending in this case?
They are both the same needs, but one is filled with doubt and the other is spontaneous because you have been thinking about it for a while, so when you see what you want, you readily agree that this is what you want.
The Law of Attraction is taking action in making your feelings become a reality. It becomes how you feel about the words that you say and how you make your thoughts become action to get what you want. It is also not being afraid to embrace your desires.
Even though your words are important, the effectiveness of the law of attraction is how you feel about the words that you use.
Therefore, if someone should tell you not to use the word, “want,†let them know that you know how to make the word work for you. You may be able to teach them a thing or two.

Not dealing with our emotions can be devasting effect on our ability to manifest and attact anything positive into our lives, I have seen many examples of people who haven't let go of strong debilitating negative issues/emotions and stay in a rut for years
I use my reiki training, positive affirmations, positive thinking, the Sedona Method www.sedona.com to help me deal with underlying fears and worry about any situation, as not dealing with it, leads nowhere.
Sometimes life seems umsurmountable and hard, it doesn't have to be, there is a lot of wisdom and love out there, set your intent that the solutons and support you need are always there for you.
Consistency and focusing on what you do want and letting go of the negative emotions of what you don't want is key here as well as it tells the Universe you really choose this in your life
Lots of emotions can get in the way especially fear, sometimes we want something badly we are too scared to really have as that would involve change and therefore push it away subconciously
I will keep people posted on how I'm doing as I have found some good bits of my "jigsaw of life" and now understand how to put different goals, intentions and desires into action
Thank you!
I needed to hear this, my thoughts and emotions are there, but I still need to work on my actions, it is hard for me, but I must try harder!
I recently heard about The Secret, and I must admit that I am skeptical, I've always believed and I've always been taught that hard work will get you what you want, but I also believe that no matter how hard you work, if your mind isn't in the right place it is useless...
you are a wise man
Don't butter me up too much
Don't butter me up too much now. There is bit of "Do as I say, not as I do" in most everything I write. I am trying get this figured out just like you.
And you aren't entirely wrong when you say "hard work will get you what you want". When your thoughts, emotions and actions are in harmony with what you want, the actions you take might look like hard work to the outside observer. But to you they should feel differently.
Work is often defined as expending energy to achieve a desired result. When you are in harmony with the law of attraction, the actions you take tend to energize you as well as achieve the desired result.
