Words from a very special Mum

My mother and I had a challenging relationship as I transitioned from child to adult. Over the past year or so we have achieved an amazing relationship... one of truth and beauty and friendship. I want to share an excerpt from a message my mother just wrote me on Skype. It is for any one of you experiencing difficulty with your parents or off-spring. No matter what you are going through, no matter how challenging your parent/child may be at present, believe that there is a reason for the challenge, and most of all, keep believing in them and sending them love. You can achieve great things together.

"I LOVE YOU. YOU ARE A WONDERFUL DAUGHTER AND A WONDERFUL FRIEND, SIMPLY A BEAUTIFUL SPIRIT INSIDE A BEAUTIFUL FORM. THANK YOU FOR COMING INTO MY LIFE AND TEACHING ME SO MUCH. THEY REST OF OUR JOURNEY IS A SHARING ONE I THINK.

I FELT NOTHING BUT ELATION WHEN YOU WERE BORN (DESPITE 48 HOURS OF [LABOUR]) AND THAT FEELING WAS EXTRAORDINARY AND LASTED SUCH A LONG TIME. YOU HAVE BEEN MY WEE ANGEL FOR SO LONG. THANK YOU FOR THE INTERMEDIATE YEARS OF TESTS AND TRIALS, WE ARE BOTH BETTER OFF FOR THEM".
